A Chance Meeting

From New Beginnings to a Creative Family: My Journey with Shack Entertainment.

In July 2020, I made a life-changing decision—it was time to revisit my dream of becoming a full-time artist. I left my job in administration and launched my art business under what was then my original brand name, long before it evolved into the pared-down and polished version it is today.

Using social media as my main outlet, I began sharing my artwork online. Over time, I built a following of thousands. My work started gaining real traction, leading to a steady stream of commissions. It felt like I was finally on the right path.

But, as we all know, 2020 was no ordinary year. The COVID-19 pandemic changed everything—people’s fortunes, priorities, and mental health were impacted in countless ways. For me, the timing couldn’t have been worse. My fledgling business was hit hard, and while I won’t go into all the details, let’s just say things didn’t pan out the way I had hoped.

Still, looking back, I can confidently say it was the catalyst that led me to where I am today. “Things happen as they should”—a phrase I later learned from someone very special I was soon to meet—and how true that turned out to be.

For the first few months, I kept painting, but over time the commissions dried up. It felt like the dream of being a full-time artist was slipping away for good.

Then, in February 2023, a chance encounter shifted everything.

A local stationery shop in Twickenham (sadly no longer there) told me that a gentleman had come in asking about local artists. The shopkeeper kindly passed along my contact details.

A few days later, I received a call. At first, I thought it might be a new commission—something to bring a bit of light into what had become quite a dark time. But the phone call was nothing like I expected. It was the beginning of something much bigger. A turning point.

Shortly after, I met with a representative from Shack Entertainment at a hotel in Twickenham. We spoke for two hours, and I was completely transfixed by what he shared. The vision blew me away. As we parted, all I could think was, “Wow.” The concept was simple and ingenious, yet the effort it had taken to bring it to life was monumental—accomplished despite overwhelming odds. In his plan, I saw the possibility of unlocking my own untapped potential. All of it guided by a single, powerful principle: Reciprocity.

So, what is Shack Entertainment?

To me, it felt like a haven—an oasis. A space that exists to celebrate both individual and collective creative achievement.

As any artist knows, breaking through is one of the toughest challenges. The industry is crowded with incredibly talented peers, all vying for the same limited attention from gatekeepers, tastemakers, and influencers. Often, without a marketable profile, you’re simply overlooked.

But thanks to this chance meeting, I found something different. Shack Entertainment had brought together all the talent and resources usually reserved for established names—production teams, marketing strategies, branding, framing, lighting, set design—and built a collaborative network for the fringe dwellers. The creators. The dreamers. People like me.

And they didn’t just apply these resources haphazardly. They brought the same level of care, passion, and professionalism that you’d expect from a Hollywood studio. This wasn’t just another “music and art show.” It was a fully-fledged creative ecosystem.

There were silent heroes behind the scenes, too. An expert in-house framer offering stunning advice and detail-oriented craftsmanship. An upholsterer contributing beautifully restored and upcycled pieces to the sets. Photographers, filmmakers, writers, editors—the list goes on. Each one, committed and personally invested in the final vision. They are currently in the process of doing for others what they have just completed for me in the creation of this website and film and  full project will be launching soon

Fast forward 14 months…
Through all the ups and downs, with the unwavering support of this talented, tight-knit team, I now have a beautiful bespoke website. I’ve also gained something more—a new family. Artists, musicians, framers, writers, filmmakers, editors, and creatives from all walks of life, united in collaboration.

Bola, who I first spoke to that fateful day, is now not only my business partner but also a dear friend. Shack Entertainment has become more than a company to me—it’s a creative home I’m incredibly proud and grateful to be part of.
